 What does the IFAC involve?

About the IFAC programme

1 The programme has two academic components:

 1.1. icft Seminars – International training 
 1.2. The Certificate for Financial Advisers (CeFA) – UK FSA accredited qualification

2 The programme has a business component

Every student competes in establishing the success of their own broking practice alongside their academic studies in preparation for their new professional life. Following completion of the academic programme (before the announcement of the final exam results), judged in our broking practice competition, two will win one week working in the offices of their future employer wherever in the world before embarking on your new employers induction programme.

3 The programme has a placement component.

Every student will attend meetings with major broker companies in this international market, attend their seminars, and obtain job offers. icft also provides placement services for those who, following qualification, remain unplaced. icft assists those who identify other associated markets they wish to enter. icft also provides assistance whilst studying with job opportunities which enhance training for your new career.

4 The programme has a fee reimbursement component.

OFTA will underwrite your income of up to £800 per month during the three months of employer induction.

Upon successful completion of the induction period, the employer will provide a grant of £2,000.00 towards repayment of the cost of your IFAC programme.

Together, that represents up to 88% of your programme cost. 

 The Academic

 1.1 What do the icft Seminars involve?

One day seminars covering:

 · An Introduction to the offshore and International investment market

...An intensive programme on the international market, its size, scope, products and their distribution, institutions and how they operate, industry organisations, and regulation.

 . Offshore and International Financial Planning

..An intensive programme bringing together the complex issues of residence and domicile, considering ways of efficient tax planning and appropriate investment and protection products. The course provides a sound basis determining financial planning needs of those who derive income from outside the UK

 · Meeting the Institutions

These are the organisations whose products are marketed worldwide, household names who want to tell you about their products, the services they offer, and the support they provide to you, the future frontline business writers

 · Meeting the broker firms

These are the organisations who want to employ you, and who will compete for you to join them. They will tell you about their organisations, the opportunity they offer you, the service they provide to their (your) clients, and the support they will provide you.


1.2 What does the Certificate for Financial Advisers Certificate involve?

Course content

The qualification comprises four modules:

CeFA® has been reviewed and updated to meet the requirements of the Financial Services Skills Council (FSSC). CeFA® is accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA), and is incorporated into the National Qualifications Framework at level 3.

 · 10 days intensive in classroom training and

 · Depending on your approach to learning, between 40 - 60 hours per module.

 · A comprehensive learning manual is provided with your initial registration.

 · Additional study materials designed to complement the learning manual can be purchased in the form of:

 · Specimen examination papers

 · Revision notes

 · CD Competence Development Tool (CDT)

Examinations

Module 1 is assessed by a two-hour, 100 question, multiple choice examination. Both units in Module 2 and Module 3 contain 40 MCQ's and two case-studies of five questions each. The fourth module is a two-hour multiple-choice examination, it comprises six case-studies each containing ten questions. These are delivered electronically with results given immediately.

Students must achieve a minimum of 70% in each unit. If students don't gain 70% in any unit/s within a module they will have to re-sit.

After you pass

Upon successful completion of this qualification you can use the letters “CeFA” after your name.
